So are you saying you just adopted Buddy?   2thumbsup

Jim's not giving the okay yet but he said let's just keep Buddy for now as it obviously upset me to let him go....

Buddy & family came to me 5 days before Rocky left me. I was so preoccupied with all these Boxers (7 total) and then with the loss of Rocky I didn't give him much notice. I placed Buddy in a foster home for a couple of months so he wasn't around much, but then he came back to me as the foster home couldn't handle him. That day driving him back with me the resemblance hit me as he lay his head in my lap. I tried to fight the desire to keep him as I knew Jim would not agree but after having him around now I can't resist that face! Buddy is a couple of days older than Mya and they get along great!

It sounds as though he is meant to be yours. I hope Jim lets you keep him. It must have been so hard for you to go ask for him back. I hope the family finds another boxer baby to love.

oh donna - you'll have to keep him.  after awhile jim won't even notice with all the boxers coming and going all the time Wink  and mya has a forever brother with him.  It's a done deal.

I give you SO much credit for what you do.  Fostering and loving them up is the easy part, but when it comes time to let them go to a forever home, YOUR job is the hardest.  I couldn't do it w/out red dirt boxer rescue.  no way.  It takes a person able to make tough decisions on the fly with the dogs best interest at heart.  I couldn't handle it.  no

Donna don't feel too bad hon...I just did the same thing last week....we sent Athena, (our foster Doxie) to a home here in West TN and I just had a gut feeling that something wasn't right and when I went back the next day she was locked up in the backyard chained to a tree with no water and no food...so I unchained her, (she won't run off she stays right at my side at all times when I'm walking) and walked to my car opened the door and she got in and I drove off....they never called me that night to say that she was missing so I called them the next morning and I was playing stupid and I was like "um so how's Athena doing?" and they said oh shes fine shes laying in the living room on the floor....I snapped I was like really thats funny because she's right here on my lap......always follow your gut insticts Donna, trust me they are almost always correct.

Wow that really sucks about what they tried to do with Athena! Glad you got her back.

It turns out that these people are very nice- in fact when I went to get Buddy back I could tell he was already adjusting. They still insisted I take him back as they believed there was a reason I was there. What bothers me now is that I have called and emailed them about a couple of dogs that I think would be a better fit for them and I haven't heard a word. I thought we left it on good terms but perhaps not.
I'm on a roll this week.... last night I had to take a dog from a foster home. Won't go into the whole story but he kept saying he wanted to adopt him and yet never came up with the money. He wouldn't bring him to adoptions either. Now he is saying I am heartless taking his dog from him just before Christmas.
I feel like such a creep!
AND it's raining Boxers - getting in 3 adults and one puppy this week.
