Wow that is so sad. Hope there is a law that puts her behind bars!
Not likely. Technically this is the third time she has been under investigation and the second time they have taken dogs from her. She is a horrible woman, not just because she is a "worst case scenario" of a BYB but because no matter how much people have tried to educate her she still doesn't care or make any attempts to change! The only thing that made the authorities take serious action this time is the number of deceased dogs on her property that she was just allowing to decay.
Back when I worked as a groomer in a pet shop my employers used to buy puppies from her. After the third litter she sold them we had to receive vet care they finally listened to me and quit buying from her.
Unfortunately MT does not have the man power, funds or enough people that truly care to enforce half the animal laws we have. This woman is one of many in the MT and not even the only one in the Billings area that mass produces puppies with little if any regard to the health or safety of her dogs.
Dr. Bruner has been caring for many of the dogs taken from this woman's place, some have had to have limbs amputated, some have had to be euthanized because of illness and injuries. He is a very nice vet and I am glad that he has gotten involved as he will be willing to aid in any court case they put against her. In the past there have been few vets that have wanted to get involved.
The whole thing is repulsive and the worst part is the number of people around here that think the only 'wrong' she has really done is that she didn't dispose of the deceased or diseased in a reasonable amount of time and that if she were to have just maintained them a bit better it wouldn't have been a big deal. Too many people around here still firmly believe that an unaltered dog is just livestock, and an altered dog is just a dog.

People forget that dogs and cats are referred to as "companion animals" not livestock!
