The amino acids in Pineapple also help with digestion. And Bromelain is naturally ocurring in pineapple and helps with inflamation and arthritis.

A lot of dogs actually like it Smiley

Willie, the doggie garbage can, loves pineapple.  Phoebe is so-so and the Goofster...no way!

Mine get fresh pineapple pretty regulary.  The Boxers tend to have icky tummies and I give it to Zeus to help arthritis.  Mine all love it, but the other day someone vomited it all up on the kitchen floor.  Huh?

Vicky, I'm curious why do you think they get "icky" tummies? The reason I ask is we rarely ever see that but I read about hear quite often and in this case I just read it in your post so I'm curious.

I honestly don't know.  Bugsy has gotten much better.  When he was younger it was horrible.  Once we were able to slow down his eating he got much better.  Capone I have no idea.  I give him supplements nad Pepcid and have tried so many different foods and he still have diarrhea often.  The pineapple and yogurt seem to help alot.

I think many Boxers have IBS.  My first Boxers were constantly going back and forth with stomach issues.  My guys now don't have problems hardly at all, Cass moreso than anyone!  Most Boxer parents I know have period problems!

Kat - You mentioned dried pineapple originally... my only concern there would be any extra sugar or chemicals added. Some dried fruit is really pretty "processed" when you look at the ingredients.  thumbsdown

I LOVE dried Pineapple, and bought a bag the other day for myself (VERY CHEAP TOO).. When I opened it, it is cut in very small cubes, and (while I was beginning clicker training with Bella and Alice) I thought, this would be a perfect size treat for them if they can have it!!!  That is why I asked!  It reads on the back that it is preserved naturally with no added sugars or preservatives, just simply dehydrated....  The sweet is all natural!  I guess it can't hurt to try it as a treat!!!
