Just picked up a small bag of the ocean formula for Trigger to try.  He LOVES the taste, so that's a good start,  laugh4.  The Solid Gold wasn't working out,  no.  The only thing is that the protein is 34%...is that too high for him @ 7.5 months or will it be OK?

Wanna box?

It's a little higher than I'd like, but he's past his really fast growing puppy stage so it might be OK.

I haven't tried core, but my pups got runny poo on Wellness - I hope that's not the case w/Trigger!

I'm not sure.  I know I've heard Steph (Steph0808) say that the studies show that up to 32% is okay....but I don't know about any higher than that.

It's a popular food on the doberman board, some of which are still quite young. My dog food store doesn't carry it (she doesn't like Wellness), so I haven't tried it.

The "she" you are talking about is a nutritionist, right?  Has she mentioned WHY she doesn't like Wellness?  I've currently got Griff on Wellness Super5Mix Lamb....but if there's something bad about it I should know, I'd like to hear it!!   Wink

That's what my thoughts were...I just want to find something he does well on.  Can't even remember the last time the poor guy had a good solid poo.  They also carry Evo and Innova, so those will be next on the list if he doesn't do well on the Wellness.  They have Orijin too, but the protein is 44%, so that's why I went with the Wellness Core instead.

If I remember correctly (talking about the regular Wellness, not the core), she doesn't like Wellness because she doesn't believe enough of the protein comes from meat-based sources. I could be wrong though, it's been over a year since I talked to her about it.

I've got to pick up dog food on Saturday, so I'll ask her again if I remember.

That's good to know!  Now to  Fingers Crossed and hope it agrees with him!

That would be great!  Also....I have him on the Super5Mix....which I think is a little different than regular wellness, but I could be wrong.

I bought a 4lb bag of the Fish based Wellness core to have on hand if I had an "opps" nothing defrosted moment. Sophia did awesome on it and ate it VERY well- nice solid poops. I give it a thumbs up for her. thumbsup

ALTHOUGH, I tried it one meal with Strummer and NEVER again. MAJOR water butt.  thumbsdown

I do also have an unopend bag of TOTW fish but I don't think Strummer can eat kibble. I'm afraid to try. Guess I just have to make sure I have meat defrosted for him!!

Good luck, I hope it woks for Trigger. I think Wellness makes a great product.

Thanks for the input.  So far, so good!  He's only been on it for a couple days now, but I'm thinking we might have a winner,  Fingers Crossed.  His poos are looking much better already!   Party Banana

Brody loved Wellness Core - gobbled it up and his coat was so soft!  But he was allergic to something in it - he kept chewing on his feet so we had to switch off of it.  But it was a big hit!

Well I think we've found a food that agrees with Trigger!  Solid poo's for a week now!   Party Banana  Though it's $83.00 for a 26lb bag... Eek!.  Oh well...as long as he's comfortable.  I haven't called around to any other stores either.  May be worth the trip out of the way if they sell it for cheaper then the closest one to us.

Eek! Eek! Eek! That is a lot of money for a little bit of kibble.
