Recipies For Dog Biscuits?
« on: November 09, 2007, 11:44:53 PM »
Does anyone have a recipe for dog biscuits that they'd be willing to share with me? Tank loves milk bones.... YUCK. I can't consciously keep giving those to him and I'm looking at a little healthier approach to a treat in biscuit form. Any ideas? Suggestions? I would like to try and make something to save some cash since I'm sure I'm in for one nasty hospital bill.

Heather makes some really yummy dog cookies. Many of the dogs on the board (Po included) would give them two thumbs up!   :2thumbsup:

Here's a couple of threads~

Here's a couple recipes I had~ The cheesie bites were a huge hit at my house!

Peanut butter dog treat recipe:
1 and cups of whole-wheat flour
cup of uncooked rolled oats
1 teaspoon of baking powder
cup of milk
tablespoon of molasses
cup of peanut butter
1 or 2 tablespoons of chicken broth
Pre heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Place 1 slightly greased baking pan on the side. Mix the whole-wheat flour, rolled oats, and the baking powder together in a bowl. Beat the milk, molasses and peanut butter together until it is well mixed and smooth. Then stir the broth in. Blend both the dry and wet preparation together with a spoon or use your hand until it becomes a soft dough and starts to pull away from the bowl it is in. If it is too dry add a teensy bit more broth to it. Slightly flour a flat surface and turn the dough onto it. Use a rolling pin to roll it out to inch of thickness. Use a cookie cutter to cut out the peanut butter dog treat recipe cookies reusing the scraps. The dough will become stiff as you work it. Put the peanut butter dog treats on the set aside prepared baking pan and put them in the oven. Bake for around 20 minutes or until the cookies have acquired a light golden brown color and look dry. Before serving out this peanut butter dog treat recipe make sure they have cooled completely.

Cheesie Bites
1 cup wheat flour
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon soft butter or margarine
1/2 cup milk
Mix flour and cheese together. Add the softened butter. Slowly add milk till you form a stiff dough. You may not need all of the milk. Knead on floured board for a few minutes.
Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 350 degrees oven for 15 minutes. Let cool in oven with the door slightly open till cold and firm. Refrigerate to keep fresh.

I had to laugh when I saw you had a recipe for 'cheesy bites'!  Made me think of Cartman yelling, 'I want Cheesy Poofs'!  I'm going to go make some right now and see if Rudy turns in to my 'Cartman'!   :laugh4:

If I make the cheese bites I'm afraid I'll eat them they sound pretty good to me.  I would hat to be accused of eating the baby's food.

Parm and garlic are yummy but you would have to substitute something else for the liver

But it is the smell that flips them over the edge for my treats!  They go nutso for em.  I tried less stinky meat, not as much excitement.  And I can even get a kissy from my dad's scotty (he is a little snot ball) for one of these!

Is that the same ingredients you had in the cake at the bash?  I know Precious hog dogged that cake right up.
