How much Black Mask should be visable in the ring?

If the boxer does not have that much, its that a fault?

Not having a mask is a fault.  As for the extent of the mask....well...its harder to finish a plain dog (either brindle or fawn)

Do you mean they don't have much mask, or their mask is covered by white markings?  Not having a mask is a much more serious fault than having one that is covered by white, though too much white may detract from appearance and expression.

Yeah I saw a show prospect on some kennel site that had a flashy fawn.  It has a white stripe down the face but the black mask was only looked like it was a line drawn to separate the white to the fawn.

So I was like....this is a show propsect?   Just wondering.

I've seen both a boxer (perhaps a mix, or really poorly bred) at the vet once w/ no mask at all... VERY strange!

Fawn girl pup #2 http://members.aol.com/rosendboxr1/kayleepuppy.html

and also Kali http://members.aol.com/rosendboxr/kali.html

I prefer less white on the face, I love a nice dark mask.  JMO   :)

Oooh -- I'd grab that flashy fawn girl (#2) in a heartbeat! *hehe* I love a lot of white, so I'm just the exact opposite! :)

I love a really dark mask also.  My next baby will look like Hanna.  I love her dark brindle and her mask.

Lisa - Not exactly.  Lack of a good mask when there *isn't* white markings would be a fault.. I actually think it usually means the dog is a mix.  But if there are white markings covering the "mask" area of the face, and the dog is less than 1/3 white, I don't see how that would be a fault.
