Incontinent after play
« on: August 24, 2014, 02:11:59 PM »
We've noticed that Ms Pnut seems to become incontinent after playing outside for a few hours. She'll come into the house and lay down and leak into the floor. She is given free access to water outside. Any ideas on why and how to prevent this?

Has it been very hot outside when she plays? Is she playing until she is just completely wore out?
Laila has incontinence issues. She will lay down and her bladder either drips or dumps and she doesn't even know it's happening. It gets worse with heavy exercise or if she is really hot. The vet said it was an over relaxation of the bladder sphincter, she wasn't positive on the cause though. She thought it could have been related to the bruising she had gotten during an abdominal surgery she'd had.
The only thing that helps Laila is cranberry pills, it doesn't stop it all together but makes it less severe and less frequent. It also helps to prevent UTI's.
This is the tablets that found work best for her (she gets two a day)

Hopefully Pnut's issue is just a temporary thing and goes away.

It isn't spay incontinence is it.  Missy has spay incontinence and has some dribbling occasionally.

She's been spayed for a year now and it's only after an afternoon of heavy play and lots of water drinking.

I think she is having issues like Kristi describes because it doesn't seem to be a UTI cause it stops happening after the weekends (she's not outside much during the weekdays)

If Lucky doesn't go outside frequently, he'll become incontinent, I think it's just that his bladder is full and it's leaking out. He's on prednisone, so he's drinking a lot of water. If she's drinking a lot of water, could it be that her bladder is just full and it's leaking out?

Abby has leaked off and on since we got her at a year old. I find that she leaks more when she rushes to pee, almost like she doesn't finish and then the rest leaks out.
