Rabbit Ears
« on: April 11, 2013, 01:13:08 PM »
When we butchered our last litter of rabbits we kept the ears. I am going to try drying or smoking them for dog treats. I think it would be fine for the dogs to chew on as a treat, kind of like pig ears or something. What do you guys think? Right now we have the ears bagged in the freezer with the hides until we are ready to do something with them.

I'm sure they'd enjoy them, but I'm not sure about it. I wouldn't think they'd hurt anything.

Rabbit ears would be perfect fed raw.  Heck, give them the whole rabbit, they'd love it.  If you're not wanting to feed them raw, I'd rather go with drying them in the fridge for a few days over smoking them.

Maybe I'll just oven dry them. I don't feed whole bone to Laila because she has scar tissue in her stomach going into the intestine from a surgery when she was younger and things tend to get stuck and make her sick.
