S.T.A.R. Puppy, that is.
Bauer earned his first "unofficial" AKC title today. He is now a S.T.A.R Puppy!!!
S.T.A.R. stands for Socialization, Training, Activity, and Responsibility. It's a course offered by the AKC which is similar to the CGC - it's very similar to CGC except they give alot of leeway for puppies, and it's not an official title at the end of their name.
Bauer has completed the 6 week course and has mastered heeling on leash, sits, down, stays, come and playing nicely with other puppies and people. He really enjoyed the class and was a STAR from the first day.
Today, they gave us a test of the things we've been working on. The normal yard we practice in, had a car run thru the fence last night, so we had to move to the other area. So, being in a new area was VERY distracting for all of the pups. Bauer has been quite wild this week, so I was curious how he'd do. He did awesome in heeling, stays and come, but inbetween heeling and stay, he got really distracted sniffind the ground and took me a few minutes to get him focussed again so we could do sits and downs. Once I got his attention back, he was perfect. I think for being 17 weeks old, she sure did an AWESOME job!!!
Here's some info on STAR if you are not familiar:
http://www.akc.org/starpuppy/He's gonna miss his friends, I'm sure. But, him and Rubi will start classes again at the end of September. Bauer will move to Beginner Obedience and Rubi will be taking a "LOL Dogs" class, which is all about tricks, games and having fun with silly dogs. Bauer also has one more class left of his agility skills class on Monday. After that, I have no idea what we're gonna do til September! LOL
Here's my lil STAR after he passed his test today. Those wonky ears!!! Taped all week long, took em out today and this is what I got. Severe teething stage now, considering we found a tooth in bed yesterday!

We have to send in for his certificate and I'm going to order the medallion so I can hang his first "award" up on the "trophy wall" next to all of Grady's titles and ribbons.
