Housetraining phrase of the day
« on: July 24, 2012, 08:45:46 PM »
Just for fun, here is my latest phrase from potty training/bell training.

Courtesy Squat - (def) The brief non-essential pee that a puppy will do after ringing the bells just because they want to go outside to play.

I'm not sure that Delta knows the bells are only for potty, but she knows what "go pee" means and that's what I tell her whenever I take her out after a bell ring.   ::)

HaHa! Bauer started the "Fake Pee" about a week ago. Very good at it at night especially when we can't really see if there's a stream coming out or not. Silly pups....they think they know everything, lol.

Sounds like they are pretty smart. Bell means go outside and play but pretend to pee just for moms sake.lol

I guess I got lucky - Delta doesn't pretend pee, she makes sure to squeeze out a few drops! (Flood lights in the backyard, so no hiding what's happening!)

It's a must-have for dog shows.  You only have limited time and space to get them to do their business, so you just start marking the action when they do it voluntarily so you can use it as a command.

Very true. It's very convenient for shows, altho all of mine have been trained to pee on command - even as a kid. Just made it easier when you are in a hurry and they are off goofing around. I will say, Bauer has learned to pee on command (or has finally picked it up on a more consistent basis) this past week. Very glad as it makes our morning routine about 10 mins shorter! lol
