Blossom - Our First foster
« on: May 06, 2012, 10:43:04 AM »
Meet Blossom, our first foster.  After losing Bruce and coming home to an empty house we needed something to focus on.  We aren't ready to get a puppy or adopt just yet, but we felt fostering would be the perfect solution for now and we can help boxers in need in the interum.  Seth works from home so it's really helping him get through this rough time.

We're working with Tails of Hope dog rescue out of Ross, OH (http://tailsofhope.us).  My sister's very active with this rescue so it was easy to jump aboard.  They tend to focus on lab and lab mixes because that's the most predominate breed in the tri-state area, but now they have a foster spot for boxers

We pulled Blossom from the shelter last Thursday and it looks like she recently had puppies.  The shelter was given a story that she was found in the wild.  She'll be going in for spay next Thursday and a full vet evaluation.  We need to get a little more weight on her but she's already looking better after 3 days on a decent diet.  She has some scrathes and scars but they're healing nicely.  She also has some patchy hair loss that seems to be getting better.  I'm very interested to see what the vet has to say about that.

She's so well trained.  Hasn't had a single accident, walks in heel position on the leash and doesn't have a problem with her crate.  Miss Blossom doesn't know how to play with toys though (which is odd after having a very toy motivated Bruce).  She seems to be learning though and started throwing around a squeky toy for the fist time last night, so maybe she's just getting more comfortable.  Right now I think she's helping us as much as we're helping her - she'll be spayed and find her perfect forever home.

Blossom hasn't been added to the tails of hope website yet, but here are some pics for your enjoyment.

Awww Bruce would be so proud and so happy for ya. Love her name. Poor girl. Life had a rough start, but hopefully things will pick up for her super quickly. She can now Blossom into that gorgeous, happy life she's meant to have.
