Lump...
« on: March 10, 2012, 03:04:40 PM »
Last week I found a lump on Phoebe.  It felt (and still does) like a gelatinous mass.  Anyway it was pretty small, so I kept an eye on it over the  week. Today that 1/2 diameter mass is now 1" diameter.  still is mushy feeling and it floats about.  anyone ever have a mass like this on one of their pups?

I've never had anything like that on any of my dogs, but I have, on one of my horses. It was, like you describe, only MUCH larger. My vet thought it was a hematoma, possibly from being kicked by another horse. He did not want to asperate it, as that could lead to infection. He said to give it some time to go down on it's own. Which it did, but it took quite awhile.

It sounds like a folicular cyst. Grady has one, popped up awhile ago (we've tested it twice and it's not related to his current condition). It's almost like a fatty cyst. Kinda squishy, not attached, moves around, etc. If it moves around, I wouldn't be too worried about it....but I'd still definitely get it checked out. Fingers crossed that its nothing. :fingerscrossed:

Sounds like a cyst to me as well...Goliath had one that we drained a couple of times and tested the fluid and it would always come back but it was never anything to worry about...Jaimee has one right now as well.

If it changes size that quickly, I would have it checked out.  Lucky's MCT blew up overnight, stayed that way for 2 days, and then went back down.  It was a soft, kinda squishy mass.   :fingerscrossed: It's nothing like that!

Well the squishy lump "seemed" smaller yesterday.  Forgot to look at it today but will when I get home.

Artax has so many of those I can't count them all, a few up to 4-5" in diameter.   I've had several fine needle aspirated and all came back benign fatty cysts.

Macie has one right on the bottom of her chest (you can see it from the side) and it is about 1-1/2 or 2" across. It's been there since we got her and the vet says it is a fatty cyst. She doesn't like to be called a fatty though, so we don't tell her!

She's a princess Claire. She gives the worst stink-eye ever if you talk about her age or weight. How she knows is beyond me but she gets very offended looking.

She must be related to Phoebe, stink-eye queen!
