Going hearding!
« on: February 01, 2012, 07:47:40 PM »
We are going to go hearding this weekend with Zoey. I have know idea what she may do. She may chase the sheep of she may not leave my side. It should be intresting. My club is putting on a hearding trail in March. So we will she how this weekends practice goes. If it goes well then I may enter the trail to get her instinct certificate.

Well Zoey did a lot better the I expected her to do. I did have to go into the ring with her since she would not stop looking for me. She completely ignored the sheep till I went in with her. Then she decide to make them run. She thought it was great to run them around. The guy who was doing the testing and leasons is a AKC hearding Judge. He liked the way that Zoey was moving them. She was not over aggressive when moving them. Which is good. He did tell me that if I were to do leasons with her I would have to learn to handle her myself. Terry did not think she would work for anyone else. It is not easy to try to watch your dog and make sure she is not getting to wild with the sheep, while walking backwards and trying to make sure you don't get knocked over by a sheep.

Sounds like a great time. I saw the fb pix and it looked fun. I think Pnut would have tried to eat them.

Theresa,
You would be suprised. I thought we would be going home with about 200 pounds of sheep straped to the bummer, but we did'nt. Just went home with a few cotton balls of wool in the car.
