Pnut is now on permanent lock down when we're gone
« on: December 16, 2011, 03:59:54 PM »
Bob took the day off so we could do some Christmas shopping. We were gone for 5 hours and we picked up everything in our bedroom that could have been picked up, or so we thought

Apparently Pnut was so mad about being left, she pulled the dog blanket and the comforter off the bed and then proceeded to SHRED our Martha Stewart flannel sheet.  Needless to say she's not getting anymore freedom.

Sounds like Zoey. She does not like to be left.

Was she alone, or with Beas?  Does Beas get to roam your house while you're gone?  If so have you tried leaving them alone together, for short periods at first then gradually extending?  While none of my dogs enjoy me leaving without them, I've found it of great help to have an older dog who's used to being left alone with younger dogs who aren't in getting them used to it.  Good luck.

She was with Beas who's had free roam for several years now. We've been working her up to free roam and have gotten about 3-4 hours with issue. I think what happened is that she shoved one of her toys in the sheets and got it all wrapped in it. Once the toy was free she had fun shredding the sheet

Have you guys been doing the 3-4 hour thing regularly?  With you home all the time, I'd think it might be harder for her to deal with occasional absences instead of regular ones.   That's why I crated Dash when Aaron moved to Maine, I knew even if he meant well, the switch in schedule would cause issues for him.

About once a week Pnut gets some freedom.
