*UD (Day 2) 1st Agility Trial Experience! :)
« on: July 02, 2011, 07:17:53 PM »
We still have 3 runs to do tomorrow.. But I am super happy with our first trial experience so far!!

We ran 4 runs in NADAC today.. The first was chances. It was horrible :( Rocky was suppose to go in a tunnel and instead he went up the A-Frame. He went to turn around and come back down and didn't have good footing... He ended up falling off the A-Frame right on his head :( Yes... there is video of this, but someone else recorded for me today and I have to wait for them to send it to me. Poor boy! I took him off the course at that point so I could check him over and we could both settle down...

Our next 3 runs went MUCH better and he got 3 qualifies!!

3rd place - Regular 1 Novice - Time 34.07 - Qualifying Points = 10!!

4th place - Regular 2 Novice - Time 36.03 - Qulifying Points = 5. knocked a bar.

4th place - Touch N' Go Novice - Time 48.91 - Qualifying Points = 10!!

Some photos..

Just hanging out..

Watching other dogs run..

Ribbons!!

Super proud of my boy!!

Not too shabby for our very 1st agility trial.. Especially considering we have only been training since September. I'm excited to see how things go tomorrow!

Thanks everyone! We had a blast!

Day 2:

No Qualifying points.. But he did get 2nd place in Regular 1 and Regular 2.. 3rd place in tunnelers. Out of our entire classes only one person qualified in tunnelers. No Qs for anyone in Regular 1 and Regular 2.

We had a great 1st trial experience!! Lots of fun woot! Super proud of my boy :)

Tired puppy..

A little keepsake:

And.. Rocky got tons of compliments from people who watched us run. They state he is really fun to watch LOL. After the trial I had to thank the judge for a great first trial experience. He commented on how fit and muscular Rocky is. He expressed that a lot of boxers running agility have very poor fronts which increases the chance of breaking a dog down over time.. He said it was nice to see a boxer running with a strong structure, especially his front.

We had a great time and I am looking forward to doing it all over again! :) Most of all I am super proud of my boy.

Good job   It sounds like you had a great first trial experience.

Hey - did you see my friend, Becky, at the trial - running her boxer?

Glad your first trial experience was a good one.  keep it up.

Kerry- I am pretty sure Becky did go to that trial...I know she does a lot of NADAC.

Thanks! I'm pleased with how Rocky handled himself all weekend. He only got the zoomies on his first run.. and that was with chances. Plus he fell off the Aframe so that was super scary :( He seems to be ok though, but I am planning on taking him to the vet tomorrow just to make sure his neck is ok. I hear how boxers can hide pain. His vet is a chriopractor and may give him an adjustment if needed. It really was a bad fall with him landing head first. Silly boy! I'm really pleased with both days.. even though the second day we didn't qualify...I know it was my handling skills.

Good job   It sounds like you had a great first trial experience.

Hey - did you see my friend, Becky, at the trial - running her boxer?

On Saturday there were two other women running female boxers. One boxer's name was Willow, but I didn't catch either of the ladies names. The younger of the ladies came over to chat after Rocky's mishap on the A-Frame lol..  I really enjoyed watching both teams run.

Ah, sounds like Sue Ann and Becky, I'd bet.  Willow is Sue Ann's,  Becky has Ninya, Celia, and Silas... not sure which she was running.  Becky is the younger of the two.  Very sweet ladies, Sue Ann is the Chief Obedience Steward at ABC nationals, Becky does Obed and Agility with most of her dogs.

Yes, exactly - and I believe Becky was running Ninya. Anyway, both really nice ladies and people worth getting to know.

Both were very nice. I talked to Sue Ann a few times while waiting to run. I'm taking Rocky to the vet later to get checked out because of his fall.. But if everything is ok (he appears to be fine, but I want to make sure) we will be running AKC July 16th and 17th so maybe we will see them there... I was thinking of entering him in another NADAC trial at the end of the month. We will probably only do one day though. Two days is a little overwhelming... Poor boy is still trying to recoup. He slept until noon yesterday and is still snoozing this morning.
