GREAT job!!! I love your celebration at the end! lol WTG!!

Question....didn't realise you could use hand signals and voice commands? In class, they are telling me that we'll get dinged if I use both - because of Rally, Grady focusses more on my hands, but some things he focusses on my voice better. So I'm trying to wean off of using both. But, is that an issue in Novice classes or are they telling me that regarding something else?

Dawn - Are you talking about the drop on recall? For GN, you are allowed to use both in that exercise - in Open, it's one or the other only. During set up in between exercises, you can combo them as much as you want.  The double command for the finish at the end (broad jump) I'm pretty sure I got dinged on and I didn't even realize I'd done it til I watched the video.

I loved my celebration too, couldn't help myself  :boing:, even though it was probably distracting for the ring next to me (but it was Tracy H., she can handle the noise  ;D) ... at the end of the long down, when I knew for sure we'd Q'd, I gave her such a big long hug after the release.  :smitten:

Thanks.  Today Dena and Renee said I had a very good shot at a CDX w/Xena, which was very nice to hear.   I plan on entering her in a mid-June show, at very least as a "see what needs work" entry.

Renee took the video for my second leg (Saturday) and was nice enough to upload it to her page for me:

http://youtu.be/16FhTKGsy80
(don't mind the video name - it's from a running gag we had about accents)

Funny thing is that I don't even remember Thomas being a spaz in the other ring during my run.  I was just focused in on my performance, working through the exercise.

Couple things I learned during this run:

#1: Never count yourself out 'cause judges are the only ones who can do that. I thought we'd NQ'd on the Figure 8, so I decided to relax and had fun the rest of the run.  Which probably worked to my advantage because our relaxed portion of the run was quite nice, made up for getting nailed for points on the Figure 8.

#2: Remember to ask judges what their signals are if you are the first one in the ring and they don't tell you.  Mrs. Mett used a two-part movement instead of 2 separate signals the first time Drop on Recall, which is why I missed it.  She was nice enough to let me redo it since it was unclear communication, rather than error in performance.

#3: Remember to change tactics as you and your dog develop as a team. Renee pointed out that my circling to get Xena's attention back was actually peeving Xena (you can see her yawn at me a couple times when I do it). I started the circling when Xena was having a harder time paying attention because it spun her away from distractions and towards me. Since Xena had a perky flip-finish with nice attention, Renee told me to use that instead.  I remembered to take that advice on Sunday and we all now how that worked out.
