Temper Tantrum
« on: March 27, 2011, 07:17:52 PM »
Ummm....I noticed this behavior a bit at the end of the fall last year but with the weather getting nicer, I have noticed Peanut has been throwing a temper tantrum when she doesn't want to come inside from playing.  Usually I have no problems getting her inside with a cookie, but if it's really nice out she will ignore me and I have to go out to get her.  She will play bow and dodge but eventually I am able to get her to stand still and grab her collar to escort her back in the house.  This is when the tantrum begins.  She THROWS herself on to the ground and starts pawing at you (playfully) and makes herself as heavy as possible.  It is both funny and aggrivating at the same time.  She did it to Bob today because he wanted to bring her inside before he fired up the lawn tactor.  He litterally had to pick her up and bring her inside.

Anyone else's pup throw a temper tantrum when they don't want to come in?

Yep, I often times will run away making little girlie noises and they come to check to see whats up and then I grab them, but sometimes I miss so then I go in the house and I shut the door and ignore them...most often tho, a cookie is the trick here too.

George doesn't really throw a tantrum...but he will play the run away game when I go out to get him.  :smash:

Tyson can always be lured inside with the word "Treat" if he's being bratty (or if you just go inside and leave him out because he can't stand the thought of being outside alone) but he does the "make himself heavy" thing at night BIG time!  He always lays in my spot on the bed and will NOT move...it's like he weighs 400 lbs! How do they do that?!  :wall:

Missy will through a tantrum when she doesn't want to go in her kennel.  She will throw herself down and make herself real limp.  You have to drag her quite a while before she will get up and give up and go down in her kennel.

Inwish I could just shut the door and have her come in because she doesn't want to be alone...but I have to watch her like a hawk becuase she is perfectly happy outside by herself and if I am not vigilant...she will wallow in a hole she has dug

Hmmm, Little turd LOL

You may have to start working on come command again with the leash. Once the baby gets here you are not going to have the time or patience to chase her down and drag her in.
