Dog Auction in my town
« on: October 29, 2010, 05:51:01 PM »
Over 700 dogs to be auctioned off today and tomorrow.  I don't know whether to be happy that another huge puppy mill operation is going out of business or sad that a lot of these dogs will go to another puppy miller or to people who don't have the best interest of the dogs at heart.  I know there are several rescues in town trying to buy a few of the dogs but they'll only get a fraction of them.
If you google 'dog auction, Mexico, MO' you'll see a bunch of articles about this particular puppy mill.  They were investigated by a St. Louis tv station recently.  I'm so glad they are going to be out of business.

It is so sad...those pups shouldn't be in an auction but a rescue.  I can't see how they are being helped...they, or at least most, will just go to another PM.  Sad, just plain old sad

Makes my heart can they auction dogs, like they are used cars or something?  I hope the rescues get as many as possible.  This is just a sad situation.

I am hoping they get good homes and not go to another mill.  Unfortunately MO is one of the biggest millers around. :bigcry: :wall: :furious3:
