Blanca Adopted
« on: September 10, 2010, 11:37:03 AM »
Wohoooo, my sweetest little foster baby has gone to the best boxer home ever, a very close friend from my rescue group has adopted her. :smitten:  She will have a sweet older sister to play with and hang out with and she live half the year on the Oregon coast romping on the beach, the other half in CA. Right now we are missing her terribly  :'(  Ajay is not happy that I left with his girlfriend and did not bring her back home. He always forgives me though.  ;D
This was a very special little girl that touched alot of hearts while she was here and there were alot of tears when the word got out that she was adopted. She had her own little fan club at work with the staff and customers both falling for her charms.. It helps my heart heal knowing she is going to live happily ever after.

Her new name is Sophie :smitten:

Just got this update..I can't tell you how much I look forward to updates after adopting out a dog! This is kinda long but I thought I would share it with you, it is all the little details that help me to know she is settling in fine and I don't have to worry... ;D  I am SO happy!  :roflol: (OK I still have my little melt downs but I have a huge smile after reading this!) BTW LuLu is blind so the reference to Sophie not understanding yet that LuLu can not seei her invitations to play will make sense to you.

Sophie is here and settling in very, very well. We had a 12 hour drive on the spur of the moment but off we went.
Sophie did not like being crated in the car for the trip home (which we thought would be safer for everyone). At the first rest stop we re-arranged things, Lulu rode shotgun and I rode on the back seat with Miss Sophie. She immediately settled down and was a perfect passenger the rest of the way home.
The first night I slept with her in the "kids' room" where she half settled but of course the whole thing was weird (for her). She started her new first day off(very early - yawn) with breakfast (not eating well) and then onward with the Big Guy and her first trip to the beach. She likes the beach! She LOVES her Dad. She and Lulu are getting on extrememly well. Sophie can't quite understand why Lulu doesn't take her up on all her invitations to play "Hey, can't you see me here in a play bow? Can't you see I'm teasing you with a toy?" Eventually they hook up and another toy bites the dust - tugawar style. LOL. She defers to Lulu when she's had enough and is not obnoxious. So she had two long leash walks with Vern yesterday and 3 around the block walks with me. She is weeeely liking this walk stuff.
She ate better last night and very well this morning. She really hasn't seemed worried or nervous but she has been at our sides constantly. I think the introduction could not have gone any better.
Sophie may be the sweetest Boxer I've ever met - not to say there isn't a wild child in there, there is! She minds quite well and when told to "sit!" she stops the out of control Boxer stuff and looks right at me. She spent last evening on my lap watching TV and went to bed in the kids' room again, this time without me. We put up the baby gate and she tapped it a few times but quickly went to bed. There are 3 cushy dog beds in there plus an open crate with a fluffy pad......but someone slept on the kids' bed. That's OK - slowly but surely she'll learn where her OWN bed is. She slept until 6:30, tapped the baby gate. With no fanfare or greeting, I opened the slider for her so she could go outside (which she did) and I snuck back to bed where I stayed until 8:00. She and Lulu were just fine, very quiet and didn't get into trouble.
She's meeting new people, new dogs and settling in with confidence. Her middle name is "Sweet".
Vern is over the moon and really enjoying having a healthy Boxer to walk and play with.
So far, so good.
