Just like carpet , etc. Be sure to clean with enzymatic cleaner to eliminate the smell that may entice her to go again. (if she has an accident). We had very few crate incedents and when we did it was usually my fault for making it to big too soon. While she's young she should only get enough room to turn around and lay down. Most dogs won't potti where they sleep.

I'd definitely start out w/something washable and then see how things go.  Some pups do fine, some go through destructive stages (either young or during their "teenage" stage) and need a bare crate for their own safety and your own sanity. It definitely varies.  Dash would not potty in his crate no matter what, but he had to be bed-less for a very long time because he kept ripping them up.
