Introducing "Bella"
« on: September 30, 2009, 09:25:31 AM »
I rescued this poor girl yesterday. Her name is Bella, she is 3 years old and has been
through at least 2 prior owners. I was told she has had 2 litters the last she whelped
9 pups (they all died except one).
I noticed her about a month ago tied to a tree with a huge logging chain.
No shelter, no water and no obvious food dish. I have lost sleep over worrying about
this girl. (Animal control is useless here) Yesterday I could not drive past her.
I stopped and asked the lady (who had 4 other dogs in the trailer)
If she would be willing to give her up to a good home.
Which of course her reply was "I paid money for her"
My reply was I will not give you money but, I WILL give her a home and the medical attention she so badly needs.
She left the decision up to the 10 year old girl who owned her. Thankfully, after convincing the little girl her doggie would never be on a chain again and she would live the rest of her life in the comfort of a home.
I promised Lauren (the girl) that she was welcome to visit and that I would not change Bella's name.
I also told the little girl that I would often whisper in Bella's  ear that Lauren loved her.
She told me to take her while tears welled in her eyes.
Bella is very thin and has a wound on her side. She also appears to maybe have mange. I plan on taking her for the full work up at the vets on Friday when my check clears.
She is the sweetest girl  :smitten:...no problems with aggression at all.
She even ignored my huge cat that tried his best to show her he was the boss, She walked past him like he wasn't even there.
I now have another B.B. dog...."Belly Bear"
Please send all the vibes and prayers you can spare.
We are are keeping our fingers crossed hoping her road to recovery will be simple and there are no major health issues.

This is something I try to explain to my kids, while they may love something sometime the best thing for it is to let it go.  It wasn't the little girls fault, that what an adult is for, but it is sad (to me) that she was upset...
Bella is definitely in better hands now, as are any angle Boxer babies that would have been born out of her.

Yes, you are an angel for rescuing her!   She looks like a real sweetheart - but those pictures of her just break my heart (LOL - and make me want to kill someone).
