Do you know that, as 501c3 (tax exempt) organizations, they're not allowed to perform excessive lobbying? Do you feel that they're operating within the boundaries of this rule?

If you don't, please print and fill out this form, then mail it in to the IRS. We need to stop this and take a stand against these groups while we still can. If we don't, we'll continue to lose our responsible breeders, and eventually the breed altogether.

It's happening already. In California, it now costs breeders around $150 per year, per intact animal for dog breeding licensing. **$150 per animal, per year.** So, if you have one stud dog and one breeding age bitch, plus one puppy that you're growing out to show, you have to put $450 dollars in the government's pocket.

And it doesn't stop there. . . Even though this JUST passed last year, the HSUS is already lobbying to raise licenses to $250 per year, per animal. And since responsible breeders follow the law (as opposed to irresponsible breeders), many are trying to flee the state as quickly as they can. Where does that leave California pet buyers? With no source of responsibly bred puppies within their state. And soon, as similar laws are passed in neighboring states, breeders will stop breeding, and buyers will be left to purchase puppies off of the black market from irresponsible breeders and puppy millers, some of them coming in from Mexico, from deplorable conditions, bringing all sorts of diseases with them.

Here's the link: http://www.irs.gov/charities/article/0,,id=139029,00.html

Here's the HSUS's tax exempt number:
53-0225390

And PeTA's:
52-1218336

For vitals on both organizations, please visit:

http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=4314

And notice that the HSUS made $10,307,978 (nearly 10.5M) in 2007 alone. Doesn't sound like a "non profit" to me. . .

Similarly, it cost $32,996,677 to run PeTA in 2007. Pretty darned costly for an organization that adopted out only .85% of all the animals they took in in 2007. . . Yup, they killed 1,815 of the 1,997 animals they took in that year. If they're not helping animals, exactly *what* are they doing???

I ABSOLUTELY do not think that they should have tax exempt status! I will fill out the form.
