Hope had to be let go 11/2/09... :(

Quote
On Hope’s initial vet visit after Tiffany got her we found out she had
Heartworm but also she had neurological issues.

Tiffany wrote:

>>She tested positive for heartworm.  In addition, we also believe she has
some neurological issues, potentially a mass in her muzzle.  We believe she
has the mass because besides being extremely sensitive to the left side of
her head, she developed 2 nose bleeds during her appointment. (That – in
addition to her staggering and repetitive circling)

>> I wanted to make you aware of the situation and will keep you updated on
any new information.   I don’t believe she has a strength to battle this.  I
am open to your suggestions, however my initial thoughts are to keep her
comfortable as long as I can.

Tiffany talked with her kids as I know this is a hard issue when you have
younger kids that get attached but they all agreed they wanted Hope to stay
with them and know what love was as they tried to figure out what was wrong
with her.

I had emailed in mid October to inquire about Hope’s progress and her
response was:

>> Hope is doing good.  Her weight is back to normal.  Her neurological
issues make her an interesting challenge.  She sometimes forgets that she
was just outside and has accidents in the house.  However just this week she
has gotten some “bounce” in her step and even jogged across the backyard
with my other Boxer.  She has a bad habit of waking up at 2am and wants to
go outside, but beyond that she is a pleasure.

I kept in contact with Tiffany and something made me write this certain day.
I had the bank account set up for the donations and a cheque was on its way
to Tiffany and I wrote to see how things were….

>> Ironic that you wrote me today.  Unfortunately we had to put Hope down
yesterday.  She suffered a stroke over the weekend and never really
recovered.  I feel horrible, as I had hoped that we would have her for
several months.  However her last few weeks with us were definitely better
than her days roaming the woods in Kentucky.  Her weight had gotten to
normal, she slept in our room each evening, and even jogged around the house
every once in awhile.  She enjoyed her dog treats and loved to eat the
crusts from my daughters toast.  We miss her terribly, but have peace
knowing that she is in a better place.

Awww, that's so sad.  :'(   I hope that family will rescue/foster again.  It sounds like they are such a wonderful family to take in an older girl with so many problems!  Sleep well, sweet Hope.  I know you were loved.

:( Oh how sad. I'm so sorry. Just glad she had felt love before she had to go.

Rest in Peace, Hope.
