"Beware of Dog" signs

Are these a good idea?  Do they make you liable if your dog bites someone on your property, or remove liability??

The make you liable.  A lawyer said that you are stating you have a vicious dog with the word beware.  He said put up a no trespassing sign but NEVER beware of dog.

Ditto, Joyce. I wouldn't put one up.

Ok, because one person told me that you warn the person that way, so they take entering your yard at their own risk...others said the same as you guys, lol.  We found someone tampering with our fence while our pups were outside...so we are trying to warn people off, lol.

If you can find a "dog in yard" sign, that tells people there is a dog but doesn't imply danger.

gee Jamie...Maybe run a small electrical current in your fence and put a sign up that states the fence is hot.  I can't imagine someone messing with my fence...that would surely scare me!  And I would NOT leave my pups out alone any more.

If your dogs were outside while someone was tampering with your fence didn't they see/hear the dogs? Why do they need a sign if they already know dogs are there?

Our insurance agent told us to take the sign down for the pics they had to take . Then suggested not to put them up , as it is make it seem like you are stating to watch out for your dogs . Watch out means you think they will cause harm to others entering your yard .

There is a thing called an attractive nusance . Anything that could attract ( usually kids or teens ) a person whether it is dangerous or not can be a liability . A dog barking could be considered an attractive nusance to a child - even if there is a sign warning of dogs on the property . you will be held liable if they are bitten .

We have No Tresspassing signs up next to the trail that runs through our property (we dont mind hikers and horseback riders but the ATVs pi$$ me off) and according to a lawyer friend of ours...that's enough to press charges if we catch people.

Course most of the neighborhood hoodlums are afraid of Beas because he stands on the hill and barks his big boy bark at them...and from over 100' away he looks big and fierce.

We are pretty sure it was psycho lady...but no proof.  She seems to enjoy sabatouging (sp?) our fences.  I think she wants to make a big enough opening in our fence that our babies can get out and she can either harm them or call animal control...

We have a no tresspass order against their family as do they for us...i wish we could catch her coming over...

I would love to, but as our house is next to a park and electric fences aren't allowed in our area...not a possibility

Is there any way to set up a video camera to catch her?  I would for sure not leave my dogs out there if you aren't right there.
