What does everyone think of Avoderm Lamb&Rice? I use Canidae Lamb&Rice but heard great reviews from vets and other friends who use it. Would just like some thoughts.  :)

It's not bad in terms of what's available in some of the big box stores. If your guy's fine on Canidae I would stick with it. I think it's a bit better than Avoderm, plus the Avocado oil in the Avoderm makes me uneasy.

If you are ever wondering about a food, this list is a good place to start:
http://www.boxercrazy.org/forum/kibble-feeding/2009-whole-dog-journal-approved-foods/

Chances are that if it isn't on the list, it is because the ingredients are considered lower quality. Most people (even some with highly allergic dogs) are usually able to find a food that works for them on that list.

There is also www.dogfoodanalysis.com which goes further and gives reasons for it's star-ratings of food. Both are based on the same general rules - good ingredients, no fillers, avoid common allergens (corn, wheat, soy).

Aside from what's listed above, I also like www.dogfoodproject.com and www.dogaware.com for nutrition info.

I've fed Avoderm before and it gave my two horrible gas. Even though it has good ingredients, it's pretty grain heavy.

I have fed Avoderm before, it's not a bad food but it really isn't that great of a food either. My dogs' coats got course while feeding it.
