Boxer Crazy Forum Rules
(Or, How to Obtain the Maximum Benefit From Your Membership)

Boxer Crazy is a community of Boxer owners, breeders, rescuers, exhibitors, handlers, trainers, and fans, both experienced and inexperienced. The Boxer Crazy Forum is provided free for the use and enjoyment of all members. The goals of the Forum are to provide information and discussion about the Boxer breed, conscientious breeding, health, safety, and responsible pet ownership.  There is tremendous diversity in age, race, gender, language, location (worldwide) and more here and there will be a lot of varying opinions on different subjects. We're all human beings and we're all drawn to this site because we have a common bond as Boxer lovers.

The following Rules are a nuts-and-bolds version of our Terms of Service.  They are intended to complement the TOS and not to replace it - members are expected to have read and abide by the TOS at all times.  These are the key issues that will affect your everyday use of the Forum.  These rules apply to all aspects of the Boxer Crazy website, and the term "The Forum" encompasses the following:  Message Boards, Personal Messages, Chat, e-mail originating from the Forum interface, and any features which may be added in the future.

1.  Be Respectful of Others
This is as simple as it sounds.  You must be respectful of the other participants of the Forum - you may not agree with them, you may not like them, you may think they're the devil incarnate - but you still need to be civil with them.

2. Debates
We allow debates, as long as they remain civil.  Some of our members are good at warm-and-fuzzies; some are good at to-the-point, "Just the facts, Ma'am" posts; and most others are somewhere in-between.  Most of the time, no one is trying to insult or anger or hurt anyone else; because words on a screen lack vocal inflection and facial expression, sometimes a post will come across one way when it was intended another way entirely.  If you find yourself upset at or offended by a post, it's always a good idea to step back, do something else for a while, and then re-read the post.  If you're still upset, and you think the post violates Rule #1, please contact an Administrator privately.

3. Breeding
We welcome discussions and questions about breeding, and responsible versus irresponsible breeders, but not promotion of irresponsible breeding practices.  If you want to talk about breeding your dogs, be prepared to answer questions from other members about your breeding program.  You can link to breeder websites, good or bad, but keep Rule #1 and defamation laws in mind.  Breeding is one of the most volatile and emotional topics of discussion on this Forum, and many times discussions will become heated.  Remember to discuss the practices, not the people.

We do offer a Breeder Referral Listing, for recommendations by "satisfied customers" who are members of Boxer Crazy.  Specific guidelines for posting referrals are included in the main thread.  Any suggestions for inclusion or removal from the listing should be sent privately to an Administrator.

4. Personal Messages
The Boxer Crazy Rules and Terms of Service also apply to Personal Messages.  If you receive a PM that you feel is violating one of the rules, please use the "Report" function.  Personal Messages are private but not secret; the Forum Software does not provide an interface for Administrators to read Personal Messages, but Reported PMs are sent, in full, to the Administrators.  As well, PMs are stored in the database and so can be accessed by the Site Owner(s) in extreme circumstances.

5. Advertising
We have a "Member Advertisements" area for members to advertise and discuss their personal business ventures.  Any other advertising, including breeding-related, is prohibited, as is spam, chain letters, solicitations, pyramid schemes, etc.

6. The Dos & Don'ts
These are the standard "best practices" for Forum participation.  Do not post things that are false, illegal, insulting, harassing, etc. (no flames); do not post personal information on the public areas; do not insult or belittle other members; do not post sexually explicit or vulgar content. Do try to stay on-topic as much as possible, or start a new thread if a topic goes far off-course.  Don't try to moderate other members, and don't argue publicly about moderation or rules - contact an Administrator privately.  Do respect copyright - both in posting information to the Forums, and in posting Forum information elsewhere.  Don't use the Forum in lieu of veterinary advice, but rather as a corollary to it; in an emergency situation, contact your vet first.

7.  Signatures, Avatars & Photos
  • Forum TOS/Rules apply to these features, as well.
  • Signature pictures/banners must be no higher than 160 pixels, and no wider than 500 pixels.
  • Signature text is limited to 200 characters.
  • Avatar size is limited to 160 x 160 pixels.
  • Only avatar photos should be uploaded and stored on the Boxer Crazy site.
