Terms of Service
The boxercrazy.org service (hereafter "Boxer Crazy" or "the Forum") is provided free for use and enjoyment by all members. After registering, you may discuss Boxers and a variety of topics with registered users throughout the world. The goals of the Forum are to provide information and discussion about the Boxer breed, conscientious breeding, health, safety, and responsible pet ownership.
We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. For the duration of the document, "We" refers to Boxer Crazy and its Administrators, Moderators, agents, and affiliates.
Your Forum ProfileUsername and PasswordYou have the ability, as you register, to choose your username. We advise that you keep the name appropriate. With this user account you are about to register, you agree to never give your password out to another person except an administrator, for your protection and for validity reasons. You also agree to never use another person's account for any reason. We also highly recommend you use a complex and unique password for your account, to prevent account theft.
One AccountYou agree you will register only one account. If you have trouble with your log-in or password, contact the Administrators rather than registering again. Posts may be merged at the discretion of the Administration of Boxer Crazy for any member with two or more user accounts.
Profile InformationAfter you register and login to this Forum, you will be able to fill out a detailed profile. It is your responsibility to present clean and accurate information. Any information the Forum owner or staff determines to be inaccurate or vulgar in nature will be removed, with or without prior notice. Appropriate sanctions may be applicable.
SignaturesSignature text and images should comply with our regular posting rules. In order to keep threads easy to read, signature pictures/banners must be no higher than 160 pixels, and no wider than 500 pixels. Signature text is limited to 200 characters.
If your signature is in violation of any of these new rules, we may remove it without prior notice. If you have any questions as to whether something is acceptable, please PM an Administrator
Avatars Avatar images are subject to the TOS/Rules for the Boxer Crazy Forum. Image size is limited to 160 x 160 pixels.
Uploading/Linking PhotosTo conserve storage space, we request that all members use a free photo-hosting service such as Photobucket to post pictures. Only avatar photos should be uploaded and stored on the Boxer Crazy site.
You agree that you will upload or link only photos that are deemed appropriate for public viewing. The decision of the Administration will be final. Uploaded photos are also limited in size and disk space per user.
Your Forum ActivityTopics/PostsPlease try to post under the appropriate forum. This will enable members to easily find your posts and respond in a timely fashion. By the same token, please try to use meaningful Subject lines that relate to the content of the post; "Help! My Boxer Ate a Chipmunk!" is a meaningful subject line; "Help!" by itself has little meaning. We do have a "Search" function that we encourage you to use - your question may have been asked in the past, and a search may get you an answer faster than a new post will.
Off-Topic PostsPlease try to avoid going too far off-topic or "hijacking" a thread. It is in the nature of some discussions to migrate from the original topic; so long as the original question/issue has been addressed, and there is not an ongoing effort to bring the discussion back on-topic, these migrations will be allowed. While short, somewhat-related detours are generally well-tolerated, if the other topic is significantly different or detracting from the original subject, we reserve the right to split the other topic into its own thread in the appropriate forum.
No Cross-PostingDo not post the same discussion more than once on a discussion forum or on many forums. Duplicate discussions are frustrating and counterproductive for other members, especially for those whose time and energy is limited. Duplicate discussions will be deleted.
Personal InformationFor your own safety, please do not post personal information, such as address, telephone number, or e-mail address on the Forum. Other members may contact you privately using the Personal Messaging system or, if you choose to allow it, by sending you an e-mail via the Forum interface.
Veterinary AdviceWe do not advocate blindly following any one person's advice, so discussions and information about veterinary matters, common procedures, 'traditional' practices, etc. are encouraged; however the Boxer Crazy Forum is not meant to take the place of veterinary care or advice. Members may post information, opinion, experiences, or personal advice; however such sharing of information does not establish a client-patient-veterinarian relationship and is not a professional, licensed veterinary consultation, and should not be interpreted as such. In the event of an emergency, contact your veterinary or emergency clinic first.
Competing SitesThe internet is a big place, and it's no surprise that there are other sites which occupy the same niche as Boxer Crazy. We have no issue with that. However, it would be against our best interests, and therefore the best interests of our members, for us to allow such sites to build upon our popularity by being promoted on Boxer Crazy. Therefore, no Boxer-related Forums may be referenced or linked on Boxer Crazy in any way, including but not limited to links in posts, signatures, profile information, Personal Messages, or e-mails originating from the Forum. "Smaller niche" sites, such as Boxer-rescue-specific forums, may be linked in certain circumstances, with the permission and at the discretion of the Administrators.
Breeding DiscussionsBoxer Crazy is dedicated to supporting responsible breeding practices - those aimed at maintaining or improving the quality, temperament, health, and longevity of the Boxer breed; ensuring the proper care of the individual dogs produced for their lifetimes; educating potential purchasers; and offering support and assistance to puppy buyers for the life of the dog. Please do not post threads promoting irresponsible or casual breeding practices - this would include, but not be limited to: breeding dogs who have not been screened for common health issues in the breed; breeding white Boxers; selling pet puppies without a non-breeding contract; misrepresenting or making false claims about the health, testing, or titles of the dogs being bred. Questions about what responsible breeding entails, or about why a certain practice may or may not be considered responsible, are welcome; discussions or debates about who "should be allowed" to breed, or about legal restriction of breeders, are permitted so long as they do not violate the Forum rules; however promoting, advertising, or recommending irresponsible breeding practices is not allowed.
We allow links to breeder websites, and discussion of questions, concerns, red flags, etc. that might arise from them; however please keep in mind that libelous statements can open you up to a defamation lawsuit. ("She's a money-hungry BYB" is a libelous statement; "It seems to me that this person does not have the best interests of the breed in mind" is an opinion.) Also be aware that linking to a site may increase that site's ranking in search engines such as Google.
Breeding is a volatile and emotional topic. If you choose to post about breeding your dog(s), please be prepared for questions about their health, temperament, conformation, testing, and your reason(s) for breeding. While you are not required to provide this information, publicly or privately, the Administrators reserve the right to close breeding threads if we do not have confidence that the practices being discussed fit our definition of responsible.
Breeder Referral ListingIn an effort to help members and guests obtain a well-bred Boxer puppy from a responsible breeder, we have instituted a Breeder Referral Listing. Members who have obtained a puppy from a breeder who meets our general guidelines for responsible breeding can submit a referral request to an Administrator, who will then post the information in the listing. If a member objects to a particular breeder being included in the listing, they should privately contact and Administrator and explain their position; we will review the information and determine whether the listing should stay. From time to time, we may open the issue for discussion in the members-only Debates area. Inclusion does not equal endorsement by the Boxer Crazy Administration or Site Owner(s), but only endorsement by the member(s) listed in the referral. Potential buyers are advised to thoroughly research even those breeders listed here.
Inappropriate ContentYou agree, through your use of this Forum, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, adult material, or otherwise in violation of any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed). The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions.
Debates/DisagreementsThe Boxer Crazy Forum is a place where it's okay to be yourself as long as you always act with respect for your fellow members as well as the Boxer Crazy staff. You are not expected to leave your personality at the door. There are going to be topics and discussions that will spark heated debates. Please think before you post and re-read what you type before you post it. Keep your comments limited to the debate at hand and do not make this a personal issue between you and another member.
Insulting comments about other posters are not permitted. Criticism is acceptable; insults and flames are not. We expect our members to treat each other with respect. Discuss the post, not the poster (debates on topics are good; arguments between members are not). Because we are a smaller community, we are able to be more lenient about allowing these discussions to continue - however from time to time we may ask you to edit one of your posts, or we may edit it for you; the moderation is not based on whether we agree with your post, but whether it is in violation of the rules; is insulting, derogatory or inflammatory; and whether it is constructively contributing to the discussion.
AdvertisingAdvertisements for members' personal business ventures are permitted in the "Member Advertisements" area and are subject to the rules of that area. At no time will advertisements of live animals, stud services, breeding inquiries, etc. be permitted in any area, public or private. BoxerCrazy.org does not warrant or endorse any products or services advertised.
SolicitationsYou agree not to invite, solicit or coerce others to join other community websites through posts, email, Personal Messaging, use of Boxer Crazy's membership list or any other resource within the Boxer Crazy website. Advertisements not described above, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate to post or send through Personal Messages, e-mail or any other feature of the Boxer Crazy website.
Copyrighted MaterialInformation copyrighted or owned by any individual or entity other than the member should not be posted on the Forum without the consent of the owner. (A statement by the author/copyright owner included in the work, such as "Please feel free to cross post", is considered consent.) If such an event occurs, the individual posting the information shall be held solely responsible. Boxer Crazy shall not be held responsible for member-posted information that may violate copyright law. Under Fair Use provisions you can legally post a small abstract of an article - or perhaps the opening paragraph - and then link to the full article. The exceptions to this rule are press releases; press releases are meant for distribution and can be copied and distributed widely. If you are not sure if you can copy something then always err on the side of caution and simply post a link to the material.
Personal Messages (PMs)Personal Messaging is provided to the members of Boxer Crazy as a service intended to enhance the Community experience. The purpose of Personal Messaging is to allow for discreet conversations to take place between members. This privilege is not to be abused! All Forum Rules/TOS also apply to Personal Messages. Solicitation, spamming, or harassment of any kind is strictly forbidden. Abuse of this privilege will result in a suspension or outright ban from sending any Personal Messages. Any member receiving an inappropriate Personal Message should use the "Report" function to forward that message to the Administrators. In addition, Personal Messages are not intended to deprive the Community of valuable information or experiences which could benefit the entire group. Please do not use Personal Messages if the content of the message can be helpful to others.
Although Personal Messages are normally only accessible by those who send and receive them, they are part of the database and as such, property of Boxer Crazy. They are private, but not necessarily secret. Reported message are forwarded in full and unadulterated form to the Administrators. This Forum is powered by SMF software; like most other Forum software,
SMF does not provide an interface for Administrators to read members' Personal Messages; however *unlike* most other Forum Software, SMF also does not provide or support a "mod" or "hack" that will create this functionality. For legal reasons the Site Owner/Hosting Provider is able to access the database and retrieve PMs, if so required by law enforcement agencies or in cases where illegal activities or severe rule infringement is reported or reasonably suspected.
Ownership of PostsWhile you retain full ownership of all your posts, you grant Boxer Crazy a non-revocable full and perpetual license to use, display, store, copy, archive, move, edit, delete, quote, or otherwise alter or adapt any post you make in any way deemed necessary for the normal operation and/or administration of this community. As a user you agree to any information you have entered above being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent the webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.
In the event of an account being terminated (voluntarily or as the result of disciplinary action) Boxer Crazy shall retain the above full and perpetual license on all posts associated with the terminated account.
Posts and threads on the Boxer Crazy Forums may not be forwarded off of the BoxerCrazy.org site to other persons, Forums, or mailings lists without the express permission of all persons involved in the discussion.
