Our Thanksgiving meal for doggies:
« on: November 27, 2008, 09:58:55 PM »
Well...we went to thanksgiving and hubby's great uncle had bagged a buck...he gave us a few bones to take home...We were worried they  might be a little "ripe" and since Bo and Jetta had no interest in them...we decided not to chance it...so...I made them a mean

Rice
Apples
Oranges
Raw Egg
Hot Dog
All mixed together...they loved it

Hubby's other uncle bagged a buck today and is gonna give us scraps to see how the pups like it...

I think the meat was a little spoiled possibly...we will get to try some fresh deer bones in a day or so...since his uncle also got a deer.  they've had raw bones in the past and they did great with them..

Aqua...I don't know if a dog would turn it's nose at spoiled meat or not...mine wouldn't, but then they are piggies LOL
Have they had venison before?  Was it raw?

My boy will, but Shelly will never eat questionable meat. Infact she warns me...... with refusal then I know to pull up Keanu's as his belly gets upset but he will eat it. So yes......Dogs certainly can turn their nose to meat on the edge.

my mom had some hamburger that was only 2 days past the sell by date...she gave it to Buster (small amount) and he wouldn't touch it...and he's a food vaccum...the hotdog I tried with my two (they love hotdogs) was left out for about 6 hrs...then put in fridge...smelled ok...looked ok...but they wouldn't eat it...so yes...as far as I can tell dogs *can be* more sensitive to just turning meat than we can be...some just don't seem to care though

BP..... Trust me, I totally agree that most dogs can and will eat questionable meat. But Not Shelly. She gets one wiff and all bets are off, she will not eat it. Now Keanu will eat it but will have indigestion, gasiness for a bit. Doesn't tollerate it well. So. in theory I agree, but in real world in my dogs land no.
