Anyone Familar with any Russian Lined Boxers
« on: August 23, 2008, 02:01:30 PM »
Been looking at some lately and finding they are not as overdone as some Germans.  I still love Italian, Spanish bred but the Russian Kennels are looking pleasing as well.

I know a boxer is a boxer - there is one standard but differnt interpretations.

Yes, I know some of them. Russian kennels have done very good work. They have imported top dogs mainly from Italy, Spain, etc. or used top European dogs  in their breeding programs. And you can see the result they place on ATIBOX shows, on other international shows.

On the other hand there are no rules for health tests in Russia. You have to be careful when buying a puppy from Russia or when using a Russian stud. Reputable Russian kennels have started to do HD tests, but since there is no strict rules, it's not that simple.

Wow, very valuable information to have! Maybe one day we can put together some sort of list/spreadsheet of the different countries and their Boxer Club's policy on health testing.

Which kennel do you have in mind, if it's not a secret?

Couple of years ago, when I was drafting breeding guidelines for our Boxer Club, I did a research on breeding requirements/recommendations in different countries. Europeans concentrate mainly on HD, SAS/PS, Spondylosis, Americans on HD, Hypothyroidism, Cardiomyopathy, as I remember.

SAS as well, as most Echo (much more so than those who screen for HD, anyway).
