Good afternoon!

My name is Vicky Merten and I am owned by a 10 month old Brindle Boxer. I
live in Mt. Iron Minnesota. This is located on the Iron Range in NE
Minnesota. I was wondering if there was some way I could help with the
rescue. My Bugsy did not come from a Rescue, but I have a Rottie that is a
rescue.

I would be able to maybe do a home visit or help in some other way.

Please let me know as I am in love with the breed and would love to help in
any way I am able.

Sincerely,

Vicky Merten

I don't know if they will ever require my services, but at least I have made the first step.  I wanted to volunteer at the Humane Society but they wanted money and not bodies. ::)

good for you...i contacted them before, but they actually don't do a whole lot from what I have heard from them.  i think the biggest thing was being able to foster, which i can't cuz i live in an apt with no fenced in back yard.

Lisa-I can't foster either. :(
maybe they will need me for a home visit in this area or for transportation.
I can just see Todd rolling his eyes at me. ::)

Atta girl...I am on the foster list for WI rescue, or I was, but I haven't had any opportunities...yet.  I also offered to help with transportation.

Go Vicky!

I filled out an application to volunteer with our local rescue over a week ago and other than contacting them to ensure they got it I haven't heard anything else.  I'm a little disappointed.  I help out at off site events for our humane society, but I'd much rather work with boxer rescue b/c I always get stuck working with little yippy dogs at the humane society. (I know that sounds selfish, but I've learned I don't really like ALL dogs  :embarassed:)

Claire...that is weird cuz there are always so many boxers for that rescue that are available.  I always see them on PetFinder.

that's great news!  I've contacted TBR to no avail several times and have given up.  With the contacts I have here in our town though from ppl I meet at the vet, pet shop and walks, I'm getting to know most of the ppl that are active in rescue in my town.

i'd love to do home visits and transport.  I asked at animal control if I could come spend time with the scared dogs all penned up, to socialize them, and they said their insurance doesn't allow it.

breaks my heart to see them starving for attention and scared.
