Birthday Cake??
« on: September 03, 2007, 06:48:07 PM »
I want to make Bella a really yummy and cute "birthday cake" for her birthday which is coming up in about a week and a half.  I know some of you make dog treats all the time...

....anyone got a good recipe for a treat that will look like a cake and that she will really really love?

Haven't tried it but here's one I have:

Mix together:
4 lbs. ground turkey (or your meat preference)
3 cups cooked brown rice
1 cup diced carrots
1 cup diced celery
1 cup minced parsley

Mix together & add to first 4 ingredients:
2 eggs beaten
3 tsp chopped garlic
2 T olive oil
1/4 tsp vanilla

Add to above & mix thoroughly:
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup whole wheat flour

Lightly grease (4) round 8" cake pans

Preheat Oven to 350 degrees and bake one (1) hour
Frost with 4 cups mashed potatoes. Serves 10.
Recipe can be cut in half, or make entire amount -
frost each cake individually and then freeze
in heavy freezer bags for future use.

Ask Claire for her recipe.  I can attest there wasn't one dog that didn't woof their piece down.  It got :2thumbsup: :2thumbsup: from every dog there.

Hulk's was made of that fake chocolate stuff that is okay for dogs and covered in peanut butter/creme cheese icing...He had it all over his face!!

Sorry I bought it for him...I didn't make it...Good luck

I'm not having a party.....so the cake will only be for her.  I had thought about buying a cute one like Hulk's, but I haven't been able to find anything online that I like.

I could look for a doggie bakery in the phone book I guess...any ideas for what other listing they may be under?

Claire's recipe was a big hit.  She might be on later today.

OK ...for all those B-Day pups...tell yo momma to make this!

1 can of jack mackeral (cost 88 cents at WalMart) You can use anything, but I like using a rather smelly meat substance (liver, mackeral etc) and one they don't get that often

1 box (16 ounces) of macaroni ( I use one made from rice flour, but any will do if your pup doesn't have any allergies to wheat)

1 c parmesan cheese (nice stinky cheese...yum yum)

1 pkg of frozen veggies (thaw in a colandar to remove excess moisture) mixed, or the California Blend

1/8 c garlic (just because I worry about fleas I use in almost everything I make for those nuts)

3 large or jumbo eggs - shell and all (if your eggs are on the smaller side use 4)

a bit of flax seed if you have available, maybe 2 - 3 tbsp

Cook macaroni till the right consistency - blend everything together (you can use a blender or food processor to do this or use a spoon (then the noodles will still look like noodles))

I use a blender to blend eggs so shell get nice & fine and also break everything down to make a battery type substance.

Put into a greased 12x9 baking dish and bake at 350 till a toothpick comes out clean.

I frost with sardines or a mixture or cream cheese and sardines.  Yummy for the puppers tummy:-)

This is the one I made and took to the boxer bash.  I have also made one using gelatin instead of baking it for Hailey's B-Day cake, but for this one I did not put eggs in.  It was a grand slam for all pups in attendance!!!
