I thought I would bring this thread up to the surface again in case someone could use the information...
Also, I have a picture to share of the doorbell I created for my crew, to give another idea on how to create one for your own home. 
Heck, I could even make you some if you want!  ::)
Anyway, here is our doorbell:

This is the toe portion of a sock with a crocheted top.  (To match my kitchen, of course!)  :blush:  I have craft bells of two different sizes inside.  It really works well, doesn't scratch up the surface and it's loud enough to be heard in other rooms!

Cool...I just have the bells (4) hanging.  They were Christmas bells actually ;)

this reminds me to put our bell back up. Otis pushes his nose into the door now thinking we can hear it :mad:
