Are they ok for dogs?

Are they fresh or are they in oil, brine, juice?  I wouldn't risk it unless the fish is fresh personally.

They are in sun flower oil. I was going to mix them in with her kibble and i thought id check to see if anyone else feeds them to their dogs - not every day but just as a treat.

I was told that they are good for the fur and skin especially the sunflower oil.

I feed sardines 1x a week, in sunflower oil.  You can rinse off most of the oil too.  My pups love them

I feed them, in sunflower oil, rinsed off about once a month. But my dogs get other fish a couple times a month too.

I have also given my dogs oysters- in very small amounts and they love those too. I think the smellier the food the more they like it ;)

I'm surprized the dog food gurus haven't found a way to flavor their foods with horse turds and road kill!   :laugh4:

The only sardines I can find at the grocery store near me are the canned ones in Spring Water.  Would these be OK to give once a week, or once ever couple of weeks?  I have no clue on how to find fresh sardines in Oklahoma.....LOL

How about the "fresh" (A.K.A. non-canned, non-frozen, in the meat section) salmon?  Should it be cooked first?  Or should it be raw?

I would go easy on the salmon and only feed it cooked. Raw salmon can carry liver flukes that can dammage a dog's liver. My dogs get bits of grilled salmon when we eat it. I cook all fish that I give to my dogs.

thor and vetty had their first sardines yesterday.  packed in water - wally world $.79.  In water they shred pretty bad when you pick them up, so I set out 2 plates for them.  They gobbled them up and wanted more!

next time i'll mix it in their kibble.  thx for the tip!

My puppers get sardines once a week, mixed with their morning kibble.  Their bowls are clean in NO TIME!  And I only put one per bowl!
