For those of you that I don't keep in contact with, we have a new family member named Loki. He was being fed Purina Pro Plan Puppy when we got him and I would like to get him switched to TOTW which is what Keira, our Cocker Spaniel, eats. He prefers to eat her food over his anyway. I was wondering if puppy formulas are more of a gimmick than anything with higher quality foods? I currently feed TOTW Pacific Stream which is the salmon based protein. It is I believe 25% protein and the puppy version is 27%. I know you don't want a puppy to have anything over 30% protein in most cases. So is he ok to eat the "adult" food or do I need to give him the "puppy" version?

puppy food is a gimmick lol...we always have fed an all life stage food

I agree, puppy food is a waste of money. He'll do just fine on the adult food. I would love to see photos of this new puppy!!

I also think Taste of the wild is ok
-
I never fed puppy food - mine have never had any problems being on an all life stage food (Canidae, TOTW, etc.).

Thanks everyone for your opinions.
Here's a picture of our little man.

Congratulations! He is beautiful! :smitten:

I never fed puppy food either.

He is a doll! :smitten: I think puppy food is pretty much just an advertising gimmick. Unless there is a medical reason not too, I think there is anything wrong with feeding TOTW or any other all life stages food to a puppy.
