Title: Sometimes Fosters don't work out
Post by: TLC Mom on January 28, 2012, 12:26:09 PM
I had to exchange Grover out for a different foster. This is the first time I ever had to do this. Grover attacked Porter on Thursday while my Mom was over midday. Grover & Porter had a previous fight about two week earlier over a ball which again my Mom was there for. My poor Mother. I didn't think anything of it since it was over a toy. Thursday was a different story. According to my Mother they where just standing around and Grover just pounced. This time Porter had a little more damage which required me to take him to the vet.  He has about 3 puncture wounds that I need to watch, lots of cuts and a small chunk out of his ear. Vet wasn't able to attach the edges of his ear back together since a piece is missing. Vet cleaned up the edges and stitched so it will heal. I don't think it will be that noticeable once his hair grows back but of course I'll know it's there. Porter is doing fine.

Grover is back at original intake foster home w/ his buddy Oscar. They are boxing and playing. Go figure!

Note: I did have another foster who lasted 4hrs in my house. I don't count that since it wasn't 24hrs and we got bad information that said dog has been temperament tested with other dogs. We ended up have to euthanize.  :'(

Always protect your babies first...
Hope Porter heals nicely.

Poor Porter! I can't believe Grover hurt him! But glad he's happy wherever he is now. Porter was just too much of a man for him to handle. ;)

Sad about the 2nd foster. :( You're right...sometimes they just don't work out. But I admire people like you who give them a shot.

Poor Porter . But I am glad that he is not hurt too badly .

I once had a foster that attacked me and then also bit my husband all within a few hours of being in my home .
It was a situation where the dog was temperament tested and was said to be aggressive and un-adoptable . The rescue did not tell me any of that and placed him with me instead . After leaving my home he bit another foster person and was eventually put down .
That was the end of our fostering .  :(

I'm so glad Porter isn't too badly hurt.  Fostering isn't for the faint of heart, for sure.  Bless you for doing it!

That's too bad. Strange how he's fine with the other dog but not Porter! Hope he finds a great home that maybe has him as the only dog.

Oh gosh SCARY!!! Thankfully it wasn't more serious and hopefully Porter will still accept other dogs after this.

I hope Grover behaves and finds a home where he is safe and loved.
