Title: wet the bed
Post by: Samsons Mom on March 08, 2010, 07:08:50 PM
(not sure where to put this)

Today when I was making the bed, I noticed a little spot in the sheet where samson has an accident while sleeping. He also wet his dog bed a few weeks ago. Both were just little piddle spots.

Also, is it normal for their pee to be a little dark when they go potty first thing in the morning? This morning I was watching him through the window and I noticed it had a tint to it. Could this be a possible UTI? He doesnt pee a lot, or doesnt seem to be in any pain. We also never had issues while potty training, he was pretty easy, hardly any accidents.

Not sure on the wetting the bed. Rubi's had issues with that in the past, but they were usually because she was too excited the night before, drank a TON of water, and wouldn't pee before bed.....or she had a UTI and would get lil dribbles. She also had some spay incontinence, so that didn't help either.

As for the morning pees - yes, I do believe it's pretty common. The urine is more heavily concentrated first thing in the morning (just like our's would be), so it's not unusual for it to be a bit darker. I believe the concentration levels in the am is the other reason why when you get a sample to take to the vet, they tell you to take the first am catch.

If it's just a shade darker than normal, I wouldn't worry. If it's more towards the dark orange/brown color then I'd worry. That's how I figured out Dash had a UTI - accident on the carpet and when I sopped it up it was dark.  Did a catch first thing after that and the pee was practically brown. He hadn't shown any previous signs of UTI.  :smash:

It could be a UTI.  Precious dribbles when she gets one.

Is there a herbal way to treat this? If he does it again I'll take a sample in.

Grrr...he did it again. And I had just washed all my bedding yesterday too :smash: It wasnt a lot, just a little piddle. He did wake me up to go outside around 3am, which is when I noticed the spot.
