If the gene is the same as the blue gene for blue Danes and blue Neapolitan mastiffs, then it might have come from a cross between boxer and one of these breeds.... This is the most probable theory...

I do see some pitt, obviously the color ( probably came from a pitt), doesn't seem to big, and from what I can see, way too much top skull to be boxer. I don't know if they cropped the ears or what but that just looks strange to me.

They kinda do look like they were cropped, but not posted. But I do believe blue nose pits have smaller ears...at least the ones Ive been around do(of course they are all poorly/over bred in this area)

Looks like the dog has either pitt or american bull dog in him. The head is "off" and so is the amount of bone in the legs.

Just makes me sick! We have a "doodle" breeder that lives a few miles away- she breeds everything she can get her hands on with her poodles.. last year she was selling "huskydoodles", poor dogs were hideous!  wall

Years ago I came across a website that was from the Russia area that had blue boxers .  There were quite a few of them male and female .  Now from what I read ( that was translated to english ) on the site they said the gene pool is not very big in this area and that they wont use  outside boxers to add to the pool  shrug .  So everyonce and a while they would have pups that looked blue .  What happend was the the brindle gene became diluted and became a gray blue gene .   The website is not there any more because I looked for it  confused

Heather - I'm pretty sure that's not how genetics work.  Diluting a gene shouldn't change the color.  Afterall, blue-gray is not "lighter black"

I don't know if dilutions are a genetic possibility in a pure boxer, it does occur in some other breeds though- however dilutions are more common in other animals (horses and rabbits I know for sure). Blue is a dilute of black, however it would have nothing to do with the brindle markings. Aside from that, the dog in the above pictures does not look to be pure boxer in my opinion- coloration aside.

This has a little bit about dilute genetics in poodles.

Now I do have to say, it could possibly be diluting, it happens in aussies. You never know.

But Boxers don't have a "black" gene.. they have a modifier for brindle marking.. which makes dilution into all-over color seem unlikely.

Demi - In Aussies, dilution happens to possible coat colors, right, not a modifier for marking pattern?

Brindle could be diluted to blue; the dilution gene dilutes any black on the coat. (Whippets and Greyhounds have blue brindles.) Boxers do not carry the dilution gene; the prevailing assumption about the Estonian dogs is that another breed was introduced at some point that did carry the dilution gene, and that gene has been carried on through the generations. (It's a recessive, so may not be seen every generation, but when two carriers are bred together you might get blue puppies.)

Here's an excellent site on dilution in canine coat colors from someone who is researching the genetics of it all:

True, but I still think there could be something there, these dogs could have been bred to anything, I could understnd there genetic make up
