No; the Evanger's "shut down" was actually just an injunction against them shipping their "Low Acid Canned Foods" across state lines, due to paperwork issues; they were always able to sell the food in their own state. (It seems Evanger's assumed one form covered all their products, and the FDA wanted a separate form for each product; in the absence of those, they assumed the products were not being manufactured to their specifications.) The injunction was lifted a week later.
http://www.evangersdogfood.blogspot.com/Consumeraffairs.com seems to have some kind of agenda; they've been going on about a Nutro "investigation" for months now, but both Nutro and the FDA have denied that any such thing is occurring. The cat food recall is accurate, the article linked is a press release from Nutro. It is a voluntary recall, based on some inconsistencies they found in the mineral balance of a premix they purchase from another manufacturer.
