Hello all...

Correct me if I am wrong in thinking that $1000 is an extremely HIGH stud fee for a dog that is #1 NOT health tested #2 NOT shown, or finished #3 NOT proven, but this person's argument is that there dog is a Euro Import, and has 27 Ch in his pedigree, and has a high working drive??? Oh and btw also, this particular "stud" dog is only about 10 or 11 months old, and is being offered at stud? hmmm?

I am the one who is "nuts" though ROFLOL

(ps, dont know if I posted this in the right place)

If there is a demand for a certain thing people will pay it .

I have been quoted usually $800 - $1000 for stud fees for partially and fully health tested and finished males .

I would be more put off that the dog is being used so young and untested more than about the amount they want for a stud fee.

No, this wasnt a dog that I would ever consider, but when I pointed out to this woman that her stud fee seemed a little salty, and attempted to explain why, she got very upset and told me I was nuts because her boy was a Euro Import and he had an excellent pedigree, and she was planning to have him tested, but he isnt old enough.

Although after looking more into it, I found that he is already being used for stud on an untested "black" female.........

People really do amaze me sometimes  dizzy2

I don't think $1000 is steep for an import young male that is tested (I don't think ANY dog should be bred before at least prelimary tests.... Personally I am at a point in my breeding that I really want to see multiple clearances, but I wouldn't pass on a nice boy with just prelims.. if the longevity is behind him...
I however don't think that a price should be that high on an unproven dog.  If the dog doesn't have progeny out there that has won a few classes (so that is over 6 months of age), and it can be proven that they have some merit...(the progeny that is)... then I think the stud fee should be much lower!!!  $600 is my highest I would go for an unproven stud dog, tested or not... JMO though!

ummm you would go the untested route?   inquisitive

Personally price all IMO depends on the dog, the testing and the contract (puppy back etc).  No dog is worth whatever price without having any testing done would be considered in a breeding program- hell, I'd pass on free.
A young dog (over two  Wink), with good healthy lines, health tested etc sure if I had a complementing bitch I would not be set against breeding to help prove the dog, but untested would be a deal breaking for me.

LOL.....Mabye? What do you know about this person?

On a side note, I would NEVER consider using a stud that isnt fully tested, this particular person had contacted me to ask me if I wanted to use there "amazing"  Euro Import stud.............I do not understand why if you own females morons feel the need to contact you to ask if you would like to use thre stud? I played nice until this person called me nuts...oh well.

Also I am not beyond paying $1000+ for a great stud, I guess it wasnt so much the price, but as it is what you get for the price.......a big gamble.

Ummm, NO... It is a figure of speach...  Since learning about testing I haven't used an untested stud dog, so why would I regress?Huh??
